About Me

2013_01_14 - francois guernDear reader,

My name is françois Guern. Since 2009, June 1th I am a lucky PhD student in sociology both at Télécom Paristech and Bell Labs. On the university side I am supervised by Pierre Musso (french philosopher and professor of sciences of information and communication). This university focuses on telecommunication, but one out of four departments works on Economical and Social Sciences. This integration aims at a better understanding of technologies.

My research focuses on innovation and especially on the construction of the user-model in the upstream of innovation, at Bell Labs France, Application Domain. Uses and users are new fictions in the telecommunication industry and it is important to understand how these representations are constructed by creators of technologies, to make the construction of user-model adapted to targeted market or end-users. [a bit more information here in french]

As this research takes place in the Hypermedia department Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs France, our daily work lead us to question the limit between development and research, between engineering and research. Finally, our goal is to integrate the user experience in the innovation process.

My bibliography and current readings are available on mendeley.
But because time is not only money and dedicated to research, why don’t you give a look to my personal readings for our next conversations? :)
Best regards,
f.
